I just got a "Drs Foster & Smith" bird catalog in the mail today, and just have to share this with every bird nut! You know those black "hanging bird lamps" that connect to the side of a cage so your bird gets the correct lighting? Well in the most recent catalog they have them for nearly 70% off, originally about $125 now only $40! I am seriously thinking about buying one myself as with winter coming, it's harder to take the fids outside or keep the windows open for them! Whenever I'd see the lamps I thought it'd be nice to have at least one, though I wasn't about to pay $125 for one! FYI the website is www.DrsFosterSmith.com, though I"m not 100% positive you can get the savings when ordering from the website or if it's only when you order from the catalog. Anyway...just thought you'd all like to know.

Thanks for sharing. I love that catalog and their selection of bird items. Most pet stores that I have gone in don't have near the selection. I've often wondered about those lights and how my birds would like them.

Jenny - you have a comma in the web addy but if a person types it in, it is ok. The fixtures are not in the 'sale' stuff. They are in the bird section. in lighting or cage assecories, etc. YThat is a really good deal. I think lighting is one of the most overlooked items in aviculture. thanks for leting us know!

Jenny,
I will go to the site. However, in case it is only available thru the catalog - will you please post the number to call the store here &
item # of the light. Thanks for the info and help.

Hi Jenny,
I went to the site and found two items I like. One is item #CC-696413 for $39.99 and has a swivel hood, glare free illumination and provides natural daylight without heat. It attaches right to the cage.
The other was a Clamp Lamp Fixture Item#CC-231157 for $15.99 and can be used with spot bulb or a ceramic heater emitter. I liked the fact it was dual use. However, the bulb must be purchased separately and I think brings the entire cost up to 30 or 35 dollars. It also can be attached right to cage.
I found an 800 phone number - so I don't need a number anymore. Also, ordered a catalog. Was wondering if the item number of the first was the light you were referring to.
There were a few other light fixtures and lamps but these had to hang on the wall away from cage. I liked the fact that the above two attach right to cage and that way I can remove them in the summer.
Forget to say thanks.............so thanks for bringing the sale to our attention.
