Phoebe is in the vet now...she will stay overnite after she is spayed and gets the microchip. It was so sad leaving, they had to drag her to her kennel as she watched me from behind. I realized how attached I am to her, I started weeping in the car! :( (I thought seperation anxiety only happens with toddlers! LOL.)

Oh yeah, when we got her about 6 weeks ago, she was 30 pounds. Today she was 49 lbs on the scale at 7 months old!!! Looks like she takes after her dad, who was 110 lbs.

Anyway, I completely forgot to ask them, but is there anything I need to do for her post op? Do I put her in our room on our bed and close the door for a few days? We still have the male dog, who is more than playful around her. How long does a female take to heal after spaying? Will it take a while for her to run around again?

Thanks as always.

I know how you feel, I hated leaving my pup at the Vet to be neutered. My little girl came home a little shaken up but the next day was fine. They both didn't seem to be bothered by the operation at all. I think the Vet told us to keep the cone on for a week, in both my male and female. If you allow them to lick the incision it could open or worst get badly infected. No jumping! I don't know about running however, after a week it was business as usual. Neither one of my dogs needed any real special attention, they were up with us and in their crates at night. The Elizabethan Collar (cone) are a pain for them to maneuver. My little girl did much better with it than my big guy!

thanks very much for your advice....she is home now sleeping on our bed, and is doing okay.

I was pretty upset with the vet we went to....they quoted us $95.00 for the spay, and $45.00 for the microchip. We ended up being billed over $300.00 for extra stuff they did.....an extra $20.00 to board her after the op, they billed us to clip her nails, and I asked them when I dropped her off if they could see if a dark spot on her cheek was a tick, so they billed me $40.00 to look at it and tell me it's just a scab

Phoebe was ok, but my checkbook didn't have a very good experience. :(
