View Full Version : african grey owners........
okay, i was talking to sybil my future new boss at the oasis sanctuary last night on the phone and i came up with a new concept/idea about african behavior. i was talking about my TAG and what a dork he is and the more i thot about it....... don't they remind you of the geeky really smart nerds you went to high school with? LOL ha ha,, and it all started making sense to me now. my Crackers is such a dorky bird and so funny, so his new love name is nerd! he is so goofy and funny and so completely different than my B & G and my amazon, i love having the different variety of personalities and behaviors. Now that i have mentioned it, does it all make sense now about your african grey? are things starting to fall together since i put it out there?

Interesting thoughts Teri! I guess now I'll have to get a grey or two so I can tell you what I think! lol ;)

That's interesting, but I don't think it's true for my TAG. I don't think of her as the dorky type, but more as a nosy prepy girl. The ones that you couldn't stand in high school. She always wants attention, she wants everything to be her way, she always has to be the center of everything, she yells at you if you thinks you don't notice her, and she does this thing when I pet her, where she starts preening the very highest part of her chest that she can reach. Me and my mom think that looks prepy. I hate preps, but I still love Hayley. I guess it's not so bad if it's a bird.

Shockadine, it sounds like Hayley would be a great cheerleader, LOL.
Teri, get Crackers one of those hand held computers. You may have something here!
wouldn't that be a "claw held" computer?

I haven't noticed the nerd in my CAG Perrin yet. He's not quite 6 months old yet so he's still developing his personality. But I could definitely imagine them being the nerdy type :)

That would be a claw and beak held computer.

A "Biting Taco", eh? That sounds pretty funny, I can just imagine a newbie reading that and going "Wha....???" I guess like people though some greys are the "nerdy/brainy" types but there's many other personalities (should that be 'parrotalities'?) as well, such as the "teacher's pet" and "prep grey"!

the web site isn't really up yet I just haven't had the time to work on it lately.
how old is Crackers?
Cracky...as i like to love call him and now he says it....is about 2 or 3 the people i got him from couldn't really tell me as they didn't pay attention to him very much. when my B&G, Cookie, screams out sometimes he says "shut up" and a really funny story is my amazon, Hootie Ha, was leaning out from his cage trying to pick a fight with Crackers and he did a lurch forward and a bark at him and Crackers barely gave him the time of day and said "Shut up" i laughed so hard. Crackers is such a different funny bird i am having so much fun with him, i have always been attracted to the CAG's and now that i have a TAG i think they are the best!

Rikki, at his previous home shared his human with a quaker parrot named Kirby. Whenever Conner the sun conure gets too loud, Rikki yells 'shut up Kirby!' it is so funny! She is starting to say a few things in my voice. But she is still pretty defenseive around her cage.
